Description:
Nick Powell (Justin Chatwin) is a high school senior who everyone seems to like. He has a bright future ahead of him until one day, due to a huge misunderstanding he's savagely beaten to death by a troubled girl named Annie (Margarita Levieva) and her lackeys who go to school with him. Hiding his body in the woods, they think everything will be ok… but what they don't realize is Nick wasn't dead. Now in Limbo, Nick can see everything that's going on, but he's invisible to everyone and he knows that if he doesn't find a way to help them find his body, he'll soon die. **Spoiler Alert** Nick soon realizes that his murderer, Annie, is the only person who can hear him, so he must convince her to come clean and tell the police what happened and help save him. But will she? The story soon becomes a case of supernatural Stockholm syndrome as killer and victim begin to fall for each other, which causes things to get very weird and quite ridiculous. **End Spoiler**
"The Invisible" has an interesting premise, but the script was poorly written and overall the movie was just awful. The acting was bland all-around and Chatwin's performance in particular was extremely wooden (akin to Hayden Christensen's lame performance in the last couple "Star Wars" movies). The aforementioned spoiler info really made this movie terrible and I can't believe the writers/directors would do that. It could have been OK if the characters had more depth, however the character development was pretty thin and I still can't figure out why Annie was so angry and messed up. She was lashing out at the world during the whole movie, but the so-called reasons why she's like that really didn't seem to fit. She just seemed to be angry and out of control for no reason. In addition, the drama between the characters (and even their dialog) was poorly written. They all had so many problems, but no reason behind them… so it was kind of like watching "American Pie" except everyone has a severe case of chronic depression or some mental disorder… which really took all the fun out of the movie. Lastly, the story really took a while to get going and then never really went anywhere. Overall, save your and wait for DVD if you must see this movie…
